The Miami Dolphins have one of the most exciting teams on paper. When their offense is completely healthy, the devastating speed of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De’Von Achane can overwhelm opposing defenses. However, injuries to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and other key defensive stars caused the team to sputter last year. They have plenty of holes, and the window is closing to make a run with this current core. A solid draft would be incredibly helpful for this team. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft preview for the Miami Dolphins.
The Miami Dolphins have ten draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Miami Dolphins have a stockpile of day-three picks. Half of their draft picks happen in the fifth round or later. This doesn’t mean they cannot get quality players, but it does put pressure on nailing the earlier picks. Three compensatory selections help, especially the fourth-rounder they got for losing Christian Wilkins to the Raiders.
The Miami Dolphins don’t need much help on offense, except at one of the most important positions. While there is no denying the skill positions, the offensive tackle spots could use some work. Keeping Tagovailoa upright and healthy is the most important thing for the team. Achane could run wild if the offensive line could become an elite unit.
More of the needs come on the defensive side of the ball. Jalen Ramsey has gotten some trade buzz, but even if they keep him, they need some depth at the cornerback position. Additionally, they need another quality safety in the secondary. The Miami Dolphins never did replace Wilkins and could use some help in the trenches as well. Even though many of the picks are in the later rounds, the team could still stockpile a good amount of young talent.
The Miami Dolphins build the trenches in this mock draft. I’ll admit I tend to go with the strategy of collecting as much talent at a position because one of them is bound to hit. Three new offensive linemen mean at least one becomes a solid starter. If all three do, great! Additionally, the secondary gets some major upgrades throughout the draft. Even if the Dolphins keep Ramsey, he isn’t the long-term answer for the team.
I did have the Miami Dolphins nabbing one skill position. Iowa has been known for churning out quality tight ends, and the offense could use a dynamic player at that spot. We know from last year that Tua likes tight ends, so a seventh-rounder could end up being a steal. Overall, the draft builds in the trenches, especially on the offensive line, which is a huge area of need for the team.
The Miami Dolphins are in a tough spot in the AFC. They are good enough to push for a playoff spot, but not good enough to be in the conversation of the Super Bowl favorites. Can they nail the draft and make one more run with this current core?
