MOCK DRAFT: Chicago Bears War Room 2.0
Daniel Bartel-Imagn Images

In the second and final Chicago Bears War Room episode, the Building The Board team conducts a mock draft for the Bears. Special guest Robert Schmitz  played the role of Ryan Poles, with the rest of the team advising him as the Bears' scouting staff. The mock draft was recorded and is available on YouTube, Apple, and Spotify. You can check out the Building The Board Homepage to keep track of our final big board for the Bears, scouting reports, podcast episodes, and video breakdowns.

Round 1, Pick 12: Oregon DT Derrick Harmon

We opened the draft up with a minor trade down. The Cowboys were interested in moving up to pick 10, so the Bears added pick 149 in exchange for moving back two spots.

The Bears will likely draft a defensive tackle somewhere in this class. Derrick Harmon is the second defensive tackle on our draft board and one of only ten players with an actual first-round grade. In my opinion, this is the best player available.

"Harmon would be an excellent addition to the Bears' defensive line. He has the power and mass to back up Andrew Billings and the athletic twitch to back up Gervon Dexter. The Bears' new defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen, would like such a versatile athlete in the room, as he runs a fair amount of stunts and games when he has the personnel to do so. The Bears should strongly consider Harmon at pick 10 of the 2025 NFL Draft or in a slight trade-down." - Quinten Krzysko

Round 2, Pick 39: Ohio State OL Donovan Jackson

In my initial scouting report, I noted that Jackson should be in play for the Bears starting in the mid-second round. My opinion of him has grown since then. His scheme and positional versatility would be extremely valuable to a Bears offensive line with a left tackle who has missed 11 games in the last two years, a right guard who has missed time in the previous three seasons, and a left guard who is 32 years old.

"The Bears need starters and depth on their interior offensive line, and Jackson's pedigree and versatility would be a valuable addition. Jackson has a scheme-versatile skillset that should hold value for whatever type of offense the Bears run in 2025." - Quinten Krzysko

Round 2, Pick 41: JT Tuimoloau

At first, the scouting team was skeptical of this one, but Ryan Poles (aka Robert Schmitz) made a strong case for Tuimoloau. This pick came down to the idea that the Bears do not have enough at EDGE. With Derrick Harmon, Grady Jarrett, and Gervon Dexter being your featured pass rush pieces, the Bears need certainty that they can fence in the quarterback with their EDGE rushers to capitalize on their interior pass rush plan.

Tuimoloau might not be the sexy pass rusher with bend and juice off the line of scrimmage. Still, he does have the power and technique to fence in the pocket, make the quarterback pay for trying to break through that fence, and the intelligence to be a pain for opposing offensive tackles. On top of that, he will likely be a plus run defender.

Round 3, Pick 72: Texas S Andrew Mukuba

We strongly considered running back here, coming close to pulling the trigger on Damien Martinez. But before we could send the pick in, Luke O'Grady made a strong case for Mukuba. Mukuba is a top-20 player on our draft board and clearly above the remaining safeties in the class. The value for him at pick 72 was simply too good to overlook. However, this pick came with a caveat that we would try to trade up for Martinez before the end of the third round.

"Mukuba is versatile enough to play multiple positions, but he thrives at free safety. In the film I watched, he consistently broke up passing lanes, created turnovers, and generated big plays." - Building The Board scout Nick Demao

TRADE

Bears Receive: Round 3, Pick 95, 2026 4th Round Pick (CHI, via KC)

Chiefs Receive: Round 5, Pick 148, 2026 3rd Round Pick (CHI)

Round 3, Pick 95: Miami RB Damien Martinez

We got our guy. After electing to go with Mukuba at the last pick, we decided we needed to make a move to get Martinez. Adding a quality running back is too important for this offense to wait until day three. Steve Letizia, once again, made the strongest case for Martinez at pick 72, and that argument stood for pick 95

"Martinez might not be a flashy, game-breaking running back, but he’s the kind of player who keeps an offense moving in the right direction. He’s a tough and physical runner who embraces contact, grinds out tough yards, and wears down defenses over four quarters." - Building The Board scout Steve Letizia

Round 5, Pick 149: Virginia Tech WR Jaylin Lane

Tom Kavanaugh came in hot with Jaylin Lane in last week's episode, citing the Bears' need for more speed in the wide receiver room. The sentiment was not lost, as we again decided to select Lane in the 5th round. Lane is a down-the-field threat with some gadget versatility. He is worth a late-round swing here as a player who can stretch the field for Ben Johnson's offense and return punts.

Round 7, Pick 233: Oklahoma State LB Nick Martin

At this point in the draft, we are looking for guys who may have gone overlooked and have a chance to develop into anything. Martin missed portions of 2024 with an injury, but he is a more undersized, highly athletic linebacker that Dennis Allen seems to seek out for his defense.

Round 7, Pick 240: UTSA CB Zah Frazier

Not Zach Frazier, the center, but Zah Frazier, the CB. Frazier is a tall, long, and athletic CB worth a flyer in the late rounds. His extremely loud traits make him a prime developmental candidate for Dennis Allen's press-heavy defense.
