The New York Giants have a new quarterback and presumably a new starter in 2025 with Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson joining the fray.
Within days of signing former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston to a deal, the Giants inked Wilson to a one-year, $10.5 million deal. While not elite starter money by any stretch, it's certainly the kind of money that makes it likely that Wilson is named the starter in training camp.
As for what number Wilson will be wearing with the Giants, he has worn the No. 3 for his entire NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.
That won't be changing in New York as the Giants announced today that he'll be sporting the same number in 2025.

Experienced players traditionally offer some money to players who already had their preferred number and Wilson made sure to keep it alive.
Taking to X a short while ago, Wilson thanked Giants defensive back Deonte "Tae" Banks for letting him wear the number this coming season.
"Salute to my guy & young star Tae Banks! Grateful for you letting me wear #3 King! Full of gratitude," Wilson wrote.

The most important question for the Giants right now is what they do at the position in the long term. Wilson is clearly not the quarterback he once was, both from a durability standpoint and from a mobility standpoint.
The Giants clearly don't see Wilson as a long-term option and probably don't see Jameis Winston or third-stringer Tommy DeVito that way either. So how and when will the Giants address the position?
Some believe the Giants might pick up a rookie quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. They have the No. 3 overall pick, so they could draft either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders if one of them falls out of the top two. New York could also take a flyer on a more long-term prospect like Jalen Milroe or Quinn Ewers in the later rounds.
Though there are some who believe the Giants would be best-served tanking the entire season and waiting for Arch Manning, the highly-touted nephew of Giants legend Eli Manning and Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, to fall to them in the 2026 NFL Draft.
What do you think the Giants will do?
