NFL finalizes Week 17 schedule, decides on flex games

The NFL has finalized its Week 17 schedule, league spokesman Brian McCarthy announced Tuesday in a press release.

The Washington Commanders’ (9-5) home game against the Atlanta Falcons (7-7) will now be played on NBC ‘s Sunday Night Football, with the Cleveland Browns (3-11) versus Miami Dolphins (6-8) matchup being flexed out. That game will now take place at 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS.

Among the other changes, the New York Giants (2-12) will play host to the Indianapolis Colts (6-8) at 1 p.m. on FOX . Week 17 also features a tripleheader on Saturday, Dec. 28 with the following games: Los Angeles Chargers (8-6) at New England Patriots (3-11), Denver Broncos (9-5) at Cincinnati Bengals (6-8) and Arizona Cardinals (7-7) at Los Angeles Rams (8-6).

NFL inserts Commanders, Falcons into primetime in Week 17

Washington and Atlanta take centerstage in primetime as both teams are in playoff contention, as opposed to Cleveland and Miami. The Falcons are currently a game out of first place in the NFC South behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6), whom they defeated in both meetings this season.

The Commanders, meanwhile, have been one of the stories of the season. Washington, which owned the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, occupies the seventh and final playoff spot in the NFC.
