Packers Blockbuster Trade Idea Sends $84 Million Star Packing

Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander has been one name at the center of many trade rumors as he gets set to turn 28 years old and enter his eighth year in the NFL.

Of course, as a two-time Pro Bowler and two-time second-team All-Pro, there's no doubt several teams would be interested in his services.

However, one of the biggest questions is what kind of value the Packers could get for Alexander, and in an article for Pro Football Focus, Thomas Valentine proposes they send him to the Las Vegas Raiders for the No. 68 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

"The team picked up Eric Stokes in free agency, but cornerback might still be the roster's most pressing need," Valentine wrote. "Trading for a star like Jaire Alexander, who earned a 78.3 PFF coverage grade — 10th best among cornerbacks — in 2024, is an easy way to improve."

Although he was limited to just seven games in 2024 due to a posterior cruciate ligament tear, Alexander was still effective, allowing 17 receptions, 231 yards, three touchdowns and an 86.9 passer rating on 30 targets.

There's no doubt the Raiders could use someone like that after proving to have one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL last season, ranking 15th in passing yards per game allowed (216.2) and tied for 26th in passing touchdowns allowed (29).

He could also come in and replace Nate Hobbs, who signed with the Packers on a four-year, $48 million contract and in 2024 was targeted 51 times, allowing 33 completions, 322 yards, two touchdowns and an 87.2 passer rating.

Of course, the Raiders would have to be fine with inheriting Alexander's four-year, $84 million contract from the Packers, which is set to run until the end of the 2026 season.
