Washington Commanders GM Adam Peters has been busy working the phones this offseason as he has orchestrated home-run trades for wide receiver Deebo Samuel and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil.
The question remains, with only five draft choices left this month, will Peters be able to orchestrate another trade?
We would suggest that on paper?
He is probably looking to add picks, as opposed to spending the precious few he has remaining. But with Peters, anything is possible.
And between the rumors and the suggested links? There might be another one coming.
Mitch Milani of Bleacher Report believes the Commanders could obtain Jaire Alexander from the Green Bay Packers for a fourth-round selection.
“I think they’d be willing to make this move because I think they desperately need another corner,” Milani said. “They’ve already traded for Deebo, they’ve already traded for Laremy Tunsil, why not one more trade? They won a ton of close games last year. They won with an underwhelming defense, so they want to maximize every opportunity to keep going on the upward trajectory.”
Alexander is a clutch performer when healthy, but that has been a concern over the last two seasons. A torn posterior collateral ligament in his right knee last year caused Alexander to play just 32 percent of the snaps and created game-plan limitations.
Also problematic? The Packers, in trying to trade Alexander, know they must find a team willing to accept his $17.5 million salary ... or get Alexander to negotiate a salary cut.
Have the Commanders made a call here? We're sure they've investigated? But the dollars and the health and the price tag, at this time, don't look like a match to us.
