Packers vs. 49ers odds, predictions, picks and best bets

In Week 12 the 5-5 San Francisco 49ers travel to Green Bay to take on the 7-3 Packers in a 2023 NFC divisional round playoff rematch.

The Packers survived a scare from the Chicago Bears last week, blocking a game-winning field goal attempt as time expired. Surviving has been the name of the game for Green Bay as of late, winning each of their last three games by three points or less. The Packers rank third in the NFL in takeaways defensively, and ranks fourth in total offense.

The 49ers let one get away to the Seattle Seahawks last week with a 20-17 home loss. It's been a frustrating year for San Francisco as many believed it would make another run at a Super Bowl appearance. 

The 49ers look good ranking-wise, sitting in the top 10 in both passing and rushing offensively, while also having the sixth-ranked total defense. They just aren't finishing games well, as four of their five losses have been by just one possession.

Packers vs. 49ers Moneyline

Packers: -142
49ers: +120

This could be one of the tightest games of the week. Both teams tend to play close games and are a bit unpredictable. As mentioned above, the 49ers rank highly in most team stat categories, but are letting games slip away late. I have to believe that they are too talented to keep losing in that fashion, especially considering their history in big games.

Tight end George Kittle is expected to return for this game, and he makes a huge difference in S.F.'s passing game. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been inconsistent and a bit reckless throwing the ball this season, which is dangerous against a very good 49ers secondary. I think the Niners take care of the ball and makes a couple more plays than Green Bay to secure a win, so I'll bet them on the moneyline.

Since I'm taking the Niners straight up I will avoid the moneyline, but if you disagree with me and believe that the Packers will win, I would advise betting on Green Bay covering in what should be a close game.

Both teams are averaging 25 points per game, so if they continue that trend they'll hit the over. I believe that will be the case as these are two very talented offenses.
