No. 10 Texas Tech did not have much fun on the court in a 69-61 loss to No. 4 Houston on Monday night, but Patrick Mahomes still managed to have a good time.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback returned to his alma mater for the top-10 college basketball showdown a little more than two weeks after falling 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
The 29-year-old did not appear to be fighting a Super Bowl hangover as he excitedly soaked in the action courtside with his wife, Brittany Mahomes, who was also a college athlete in Texas at UT-Tyler.
With the action on the court not favoring Mahomes' Red Raiders, it took an interaction with a student to bring the two-time NFL MVP up off his feet.
During a timeout in the first half, Texas Tech challenged a student to make a full-court putt through a target to win a prize. With the eyes of Mahomes and United Supermarkets Arena trained on him, the student nailed the putt.
The first person to greet him was Mahomes.

Mahomes knows as well as anyone how tough of a putt it was. He won "The Match" charity golf tournament with his Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce in 2023 and reportedly boasts a 7.7 handicap.
The video of the interaction endeared him to some fans and worried others, accumulating over 700,000 views on X and 10,000 likes as of Monday morning.
