The New England Patriots have a lot of holes to fill, but luckily, they have a lot of cap space and draft picks to work with. The Patriots' biggest hole is the offensive line, and a rookie would help, but they need some high-level veteran play to lead the way.
One of those is hitting the free agency market and is likely to find a new home. Morgan Moses is coming off an amazing season where he only let up two sacks for the New York Jets. Moses plays right tackle, which is known as one of the most important positions on the offensive line, and his 6'6 315 315-pound frame will be perfect in protecting Maye.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports even mentioned in a recent article that one of the moves he thinks the Patriots should make this offseason is signing Moses. He mentions that Moses is a very experienced and long-term right tackle who could be a short-term answer for the Patriots.
Moses is 34 years old but still looks great, and it has been seen recently that offensive linemen can be good until their mid to late 30s if they keep their bodies right. Due to his age, Moses might not get as many looks and offers as he is hoping, so if the Patriots overpay for him just a little, then they can secure an elite-level offensive lineman.
The average age for the Patriots starting offensive lineman last season was 26.6 years old, and that was massively carried by 32-year-old David Andrews. Having a veteran tackle who has been on many successful playoff teams can help bring that winning culture and experience back to New England.
Moses has played 11 seasons for three different teams, and he has been to five playoff games. Moses was only penalized four times last year, which is impressive considering his age and the disoriented Jets offense.
Moses started in 14 games the last two seasons and 17 the year before, so he has been pretty healthy for the most part, even though he is getting to the later years of his career. Moses can come in, be a great mentor, and play his last few good years in New England.
Moses would be a short-term answer for the Patriots offensive line, but it can give them time to draft or develop another right tackle or not have to worry about the position for a few years. Moses can help the Patriots right away and be a big factor in Drake Maye's development.
