For the third week in a row, the Chicago Bears found a way to lose in seemingly the most brutal way.

With the season all but over, it’s all about progress from here on out and there were at least some good signs on Thursday.

Next up, the Bears will play at San Francisco next Sunday. First, though, let’s check out grades from the Thanksgiving Day win, courtesy of Pro Football Focus (minimum of 10 snaps played). For reference, a grade of 60.0 is considered average while those in the 30s are very poor and those in the 90s are elite.

Offense

  • RT Darnell Wright — 78.5
  • RG Matt Pryor — 74.3
  • WR DJ Moore — 74.2
  • WR Keenan Allen — 68.9
  • RB D’Andre Swift — 68.4
  • LT Braxton Jones — 67.3
  • C Coleman Shelton — 66.0
  • QB Caleb Williams — 62.4

The lowest-graded Bears on offense were TE Marcedes Lewis (43.0), RT Larry Borom (48.2) and TE Cole Kmet (52.6).

After a lifeless first half, the offense actually played pretty well over the final 30 minutes — at least until the final drive.

Blocking was an issue at times. The unit gave up 14 pressures, per PFF, with Borom (5) and Teven Jenkins (4) particularly struggling.

While Williams did struggle at times, he still made several big plays and posted his third straight above-average score. He’ll have another big challenge next weekend against the 49ers.

Defense

  • CB Kyler Gordon — 77.1
  • LB T.J. Edwards — 72.6
  • CB Tyrique Stevenson — 70.8
  • S Jonathan Owens — 68.9
  • LB Tremaine Edmunds — 68.1
  • CB Terell Smith — 67.3
  • DE Montez Sweat — 63.9
  • CB Jaylon Johnson — 63.5
  • S Kevin Byard — 62.7
  • DT Byron Cowart — 61.7

The lowest-graded Bears defenders were ED Darrell Taylor (30.4), DE Jacob Martin (35.6), DT Zacch Pickens (42.2), DT Gervon Dexter Sr. (43.4) and LB Jack Sanborn (44.7).

It was a mixed bag for Chicago’s defense on Thursday. On one hand, the Lions had little trouble moving the ball, particularly in the first half. On the other hand, Detroit struggled mightily to finish drives and had just one scoring possession in the second half.

Likewise, several defenders gave up multiple receptions — Byard gave up five on seven targets, Stevenson three on five targets, Edwards three on four targets and Smith, Edmunds and Jaylon Johnson each gave up two. However, they also only gave up one score.

The unit produced 15 pressures, per PFF, led by Sweat’s three and two each from Dexter, Sanborn and DeMarcus Walker.
