A political advertisement involving the Philadelphia Eagles and Vice President Kamala Harris is making waves on social media as election season and the 2024 NFL campaign both heat up.
Due to a billboard portraying Harris with an Eagles helmet, proclaiming her as the “Official Candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles,” many believed the franchise endorsed the Democratic nominee for President. It seemed like a surprising move from an NFL team, but the photo made its rounds, nonetheless.

“A photo of a billboard found in Philly of the #Eagles appearing to endorse Kamala Harris is making the rounds on social media,” Eagles Nation posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “The team has not made any sort of official announcement, and their Voting Resource website listed on it hasn’t been updated since the primary elections.”
After the stir the photo caused, the Eagles released a comment on the matter on Monday afternoon, claiming the advertisement is “counterfeit” and the franchise is working to have them removed.
We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed.

“We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed,” the Eagles posted on X.
According to Hayden Mitman of NBC10 Philadelphia, “The ads also link to Philadelphiaeagles.com/vote — which is a real site that the team has set up to help provide nonpartisan information to allow people to know how to register to vote and learn more about upcoming elections. However, there is no listing on that site for any ‘official candidate.'”
Additionally, the ads have been spotted around the Philadelphia area, “one has been reported online at the intersection of 16th and Spring Garden streets and NBC10’s cameras found on at the intersection of 18th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard in Center City Philadelphia,” Mitman wrote.
Evidently, the Eagles are trying hard to get to the bottom of what went down, but it’s not something the franchise expected to deal with this week. Philadelphia is preparing for their Week 1 clash with the Green Bay Packers, which will take place on Friday evening in Brazil.
