The Las Vegas Raiders are once again searching for a new head coach.
Antonio Pierce was fired by the Raiders on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Pierce just finished his first full season as the head coach in Las Vegas. The Raiders went 4-13 and fell well short of expectations.
Pierce was impressive as the team’s interim head coach last season and went 5-4 after Josh McDaniels was fired. That success helped him land the full-time gig, and many Raiders players had continued to support Pierce as questions swirled about his job status.
Following the Raiders’ 34-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Pierce was asked if he had been given any clarity on his future. The 46-year-old had a very telling response.
The Raiders lost 10 straight games at one point this season. Pierce had to navigate a revolving door at quarterback between Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, but owner Mark Davis clearly felt the former linebacker did not do a good enough job with what he had.
With Pierce out, the Raiders are now looking for their fourth different head coach since 2021. There have been rumors that one of their former coaches might want to return to the sideline, though a reunion does not seem likely.
