John Spytek and Pete Carroll have plenty of work to do in their first offseason as the new general manager and head coach tandem of the Las Vegas Raiders. Not only will they have to deal with the team's 27 looming free agents, but they will have to make several upgrades to one of the worst rosters in the league from last season.
Upgrades are often attained for teams through the draft or free agency, but trading for players is another option. 33rd Team recently drew up a trade between the Seattle Seahawks and Raiders that would bring star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf to Las Vegas.
The full details of the trade include the Seahawks receiving the Raiders' No. 37 pick in this year's draft in exchange for both Metcalf and Seattle's No. 137 pick. Essentially, the Raiders would gain a Pro Bowl wide receiver at the cost of moving back 100 picks in the draft.
Metcalf was drafted by Seattle in 2019 and played the first five seasons of his NFL career under new Raiders coach Pete Carroll. He had arguably the worst season of his career in 2024 when Mike MacDonald took over for Carroll, so a reunion makes sense for both of them.
Las Vegas only has one legitimate wide receiver on their roster in Jakobi Meyers, and while Brock Bowers is a game-changing player in the middle of the field, the team could benefit from more size and speed on the outside. The team was likely going to target a wide receiver in the draft anyway, so getting a surefire starter who has a rapport with the team's head coach is a no-brainer.
