Tylan Wallace may not be a household name, but the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver is an important cog in the machine.
A 2021 fourth-round pick from Oklahoma State, Wallace has been largely a special teams player throughout his four years in Baltimore. When he has had opportunities, though, he's usually made the most of them.
The 25-year-old has only two NFL touchdowns, but both were highlight-reel plays in the clutch. First, he returned a punt 76 yards in overtime to give the Ravens a 37-31 win over the Los Angeles Rams in December of 2023. Second, he tightroped down the sideline for an 84-yard receiving touchdown in the fourth quarter of a 35-34 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in November of 2024.
With Wallace set to hit free agency later this month, the Ravens have to decide whether or not to bring him back for next season. For The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec, the decision to keep him should be an easy one.
"The Ravens like what Wallace brings on special teams and as a perimeter blocker, and he’s made plays offensively when given an opportunity," Zrebiec wrote. "They also have snaps available at receiver, assuming Agholor moves on.
"It would be surprising if they didn’t make Wallace an offer to return. He could be looking for a bigger role offensively, which the Ravens have been reluctant to give him over the past four seasons."
Baltimore has a few other receivers set to hit free agency, but few, if any, of them provide the special teams value that Wallace does. If the decision comes down to keeping Wallace or another receiver, that could be a key point in his favor.
Wallace has made the most of his limited opportunities in Baltimore, and if he returns on a new deal, he should see more playing time than ever before.

The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott agreed to a record-breaking contract extension in 2024. Just ahead of Week 1 of the regular season, Prescott landed a four-year deal worth $240 million. That remains the highest per-year average in the NFL which shows the commitment this team has to their star quarterback. However, a Cleveland sportscaster recently called that commitment into question. Bruce Drennan claims the Cowboys and Cleveland Browns are working on a deal behind the scenes that would send Prescott to Cleveland. Drennan says he has a reliable source in the organization and adds that Cleveland would send cornerback Greg Newsome II and draft compensation to Dallas in exchange for Prescott. His claims sent social media into a frenzy as Cleveland fans are openly expressing their frustration at such a suggestion. It's actually hilarious to see how angry they are about the idea of Prescott taking over — especially when they practically worshipped Joe Flacco during his five starts. Those who don't want to see this go down shouldn't worry too much. Prescott's contract would be tough to move. He currently has a hit of more than $52 million, which would be a lot for anyone to take on, especially the Browns who have a $36 million hit on Deshaun Watson to deal with already. Then there's the no-trade clause Prescott has — and let's be honest, he's not waiving that to join Cleveland where quarterbacks go to die. Dallas insider Nick Harris was surely thinking of those reasons, and more, when he shredded the idea. Sure, this would help pave the way for Shedeur Sanders to join Dallas, which is what Dez Bryant believes is going to happen. But it's completely unfeasible. Maple Leafs' depth in crease takes potential hit as goalie injury rears its ugly head
The Maple Leafs had better hope that Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz remain healthy down the stretch as their depth in goal took a potentially massive hit over the weekend. A surprise signing by the Leafs when free agency opened, Matt Murray returned to the Toronto this summer and secured his first NHL win in more than 600 days in mid-December. Unfortunately, while the Leafs switched between Murray, Woll and Dennis Hildeby with Stolarz recovering from surgery, Murray was the odd man out after after a sub-par performance a few days later. After being demoted, Murray was returned to the Marlies, where he has since rotated with Hildeby and rookie Artur Akhtyamov. Since January, Murray is 4-1-1 and would have been in line for another win on Saturday. Unfortunately, he was forced to leave the Marlies' 4-2 win over the Belleville Senators after the first period following a scary collision. As Murray was behind the Marlies' net playing the puck, Senators forward Cole Reinhardt skated behind and made no attempt to avoid colliding with Murray. Murray was shaken up on the play, but finished the period before giving way to Hildeby for the remainder of the game. There has been no update on Murray since the collision, but given the fact that the two-time Stanley Cup Champion has suffered from head and neck injuries in the past, it would not be surprising to see him miss some time as the team follows the Leafs' cautious approach to handling injuries this season.

Although Iga Swiatek is one of the favorites to win every tournament she competes in, the Polish star has admitted she has her work cut out for her if she were to overtake rival Aryna Sabalenka to once again become the WTA's top-ranked player. Swiatek held the World No.1 position for over 100 weeks, before eventually being leapfrogged by Sabalenka in September 2023. The big-hitting Belarusian has been playing some of the best tennis of her career, as she has captured three Grand Slam singles titles and reached at least the semifinals in every Major tournament. Overtaking Sabalenka will not be easy, admits Swiatek Both ladies will carry their rivalry into the 2025 Miami Open, where Swiatek lifted the trophy in 2022. The five-time Grand Slam champion currently sits at second place behind Sabalenka in the WTA Rankings, and acknowledged she will have to play at her best if she were to regain pole position from Sabalenka. "Well, of course it matters,” said Swiatek when asked if regaining the World No.1 ranking was important to her. “Like, this is something we work for. But mathematically it’s going to be tough for me to come back to number 1 soon, even if I would win all the tournaments, I think. "So yeah, I mean, I kind of got over it. It was tough, like, in the Middle East swing because I realize I have this hole in my rankings because I didn’t play China swing. It’s not going to be possible to replace these points because I’ve been winning a lot that season. In early part of… sorry. I was winning a lot last year in early part of the season. I’m just focusing on the work. If I’m going to play well, it’s going to come back. "Also Aryna is playing well. Like, no one expects her to drop suddenly. She’s doing [a] good job. Carolina Hurricanes Acquire Prospect Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens
A name familiar to more knowledgeable Montreal Canadiens fans has just found a new opportunity within an NHL organization. Forward Blake Biondi, whom Kent Hughes chose not to retain but who was drafted by the Canadiens, will now continue his career within the Carolina Hurricanes organization. Biondi just signed a contract with the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate in Chicago, as shared by the excellent Anthony Marcotte. And confirmation from the journalist: 'The Chicago Wolves have added forward Blake Biondi to their AHL roster. Biondi, 22, recorded 27 points (12G-15A) in 38 games played this season at the University of Notre Dame.' - Tony Androckitis It's now officially over for Biondi within the Montreal Canadiens organization-at least for the short term. Blake Biondi signs within the Carolina Hurricanes organization We genuinely wish him the best of luck moving forward. Biondi, age 22, is a 6-foot-1, 198-pound center. He was a 4th-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2020 NHL Draft-109th overall-and has been playing in the NCAA ever since.
