The 2025 NFL Draft is (almost) finally upon us, with there being just one more sleep until we finally see where top college talents land as they enter the promised land of professional football.
As numerous reports continue to drop, it can be hard to say for sure which are legitimate, and which are simply trying to throw the media - and indeed other teams - off the scent.
In 2023, it was widely reported that Kentucky quarterback, Will Levis, would be selected with one of the first four picks, only for him to end up sliding to the second round where the Titans scooped him up with the #34 overall pick.
Yet one thing that is becoming clearer and clearer is that the New England Patriots will use their first pick in this year's draft, #4 overall, to select an offensive tackle - which is without question the team's biggest area of need.
In fact, The Ringer's Todd McShay; in his latest - and potentially last - mock draft; has heard that Will Campbell ending up a Patriot is so set-in-stone that even franchise quarterback, Drake Maye, reportedly knows that the LSU tackle will be the pick come Thursday night.
"Campbell might not be this high on many other teams’ boards, but New England’s ranking is all that matters." McShay writes, "New head coach Mike Vrabel fell in love with Campbell after meeting him multiple times during the draft process. Campbell’s recall and football intelligence sold Vrabel on making him the leader of the Patriots' OL room. There’s even a report that Drake Maye knows Campbell is the pick."
Ultimately, no one knows exactly what will happen until the pick is called in, but with Cam Ward, Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter widely expected to go #1, #2 and #3, the Patriots will have to decide between the best of the rest.
And, if this report is correct, the decision seems to have been made.
