Report: NFL Head Coach Is 'Anti' Shedeur Sanders

One head coach reportedly isn't campaigning for his team to select Shedeur Sanders early in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Although the New York Giants signed Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, Sanders remains a long-term option for Big Blue. Brian Daboll was among a contingent who flew to Boulder for a private workout with the quarterback prospect last week.

On his latest podcast, Todd McShay said Sanders has some support within the Giants organization.

"There's still a little push from the personnel department," McShay said. "...I can't say individually who it is, but apparently someone on that side -- or multiple people on that side -- are more, 'Let's really consider Shedeur at three.'"

However, McShay claimed Daboll and his coaching staff are "anti" Sanders with the No. 3 overall pick. The draft insider added that Giants owner John Mara is "staying out of it."

McShay noted that Daboll is accustomed to coaching "bigger, more mobile" quarterbacks in Josh Allen and Daniel Jones. Meanwhile, SNY's Connor Hughes said the head coach is "high on" Jaxson Dart because of the Ole Miss quarterback's toughness.

"There's not much out there right now connecting Shedeur Sanders to Giants," Hughes wrote on Monday. "That hype has cooled dramatically from where it was in December."

While the Giants could still consider him, The Athletic's Dan Duggan wrote that the "buzz has faded" on Sanders as the No. 3 pick. Meanwhile, McShay questioned whether some other teams frequently linked to Sanders would pounce if the Giants pass.

The New Orleans Saints are a betting favorite to draft Sanders. However, McShay claimed they won't take him at No. 9 and probably wouldn't even draft him with their second selection at No. 40.

He's also unsure if the Pittsburgh Steelers would grab Sanders later in the opening round.

"Pittsburgh likes him, and Mike Tomlin does like Shedeur. Don't know if it's enough to take him at 21," McShay said before dropping his pen for dramatic effect. "Woah."

While McShay wouldn't say the floor on where Sanders gets taken is "dropping out," he does consider it "softer" than previously perceived.
