Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson suffered an injury on Sunday that is expected to sideline him for multiple games.

Watson was carted off the field after he injured his left ankle during the second quarter of the Packers’ 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The third-year wideout tried to catch a pass over the middle when a defender made contact with his leg. Watson’s left leg got caught underneath him and he bent back awkwardly.

The good news is Watson underwent X-rays that came back negative. The bad news is he suffered a high-ankle sprain and is expected to miss multiple weeks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Watson has gotten off to a slow start this season with just five catches for 80 yards through four games. He dealt with hamstring issues throughout his first two years in the NFL, but he was confident he found the source of that during the offseason.

Watson has 13 touchdown receptions in 27 career games, but injuries have prevented him from becoming a consistent threat in Green Bay’s offense. He will now have to overcome another one.
