The Miami Dolphins and their fanbase have finally come to terms with reality. Safety Jevon Holland has played his final snap for the organization.
That was hinted at a few weeks back when Head Coach Mike McDaniel said Holland had "earned the right to test free agency," and it was all but finalized once the franchise tag deadline passed without any action in Miami.
However, Holland signing with a divisional rival would be the worst-case scenario for everyone involved. According to New York Jets reporter Connor Hughes, that's a real possibility.
Holland is still only 25 years old and was once regarded as one of the best safeties in all of football. Some team is going to bet on Holland returning to pre-2024 form, and it makes sense for the rival Jets to shoot their shot.
Chuck Clark, Ashtyn Davis, and Jalen Mills are all unrestricted free agents, leaving a massive hole at the back of New York's defense. A big splash signing in Holland would be on-brand for the Jets franchise.
The Dolphins' free agent is coming off the least effective season of his career, finishing with a career-low 62 tackles and 0 interceptions. Despite that, Holland is widely expected to sign one of the richest free-agent contracts this offseason.
