Rob Gronkowski answers whether he has interest in coaching

Rob Gronkowski has remained involved with the NFL since he retired from playing after the 2021 season, but the former tight end does not see himself returning to the sideline at any point.

During an interview with TMZ that was published on Monday, Gronkowski was asked if he has any interest in an assistant coach role under New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel or with any other NFL team. The 35-year-old quickly shut the idea down.

"My life is just way too good right now. I'm just not made for that coaching life," Gronkowski said. "I've seen what they go through. It's one of the most stressful jobs, I would say, in America. It really is. I'm not down to coach 12 hours a day, you know?

"I love the game of football, but you gotta pick and choose what's right with the game of football for you. What I did with the game of football and where I'm at now as well doing the Fox commentary on Sundays, I think I'm involved in football just the right amount."

Gronkowski said he can envision himself coaching youth sports if he has kids one day, but he does not have an interest in becoming a coach at the NFL or collegiate level.

In addition to being one of the best tight ends to ever play, Gronkowski has a larger-than-life personality. He also walked away from playing at a fairly young age, which is why there have been a ton of rumors about him potentially making a comeback.

If Gronkowski ever changed his mind about coaching, he would probably have no issue finding a job. For now, he seems perfectly content working as an analyst for Fox and enjoying his free time.

Gronkowski made the Pro Bowl five times during his 11 NFL seasons. Despite battling several injuries throughout his career, he has the third-most touchdown catches ever for a tight end with 92. Gronkowski will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2027.
