Saints Hiring Scott Linehan To Their Offensive Coaching Staff
USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints are bringing an accomplished and experienced coach onto their offensive staff.

Nick Underhill of neworleans.football was the first to report that Scott Linehan will be joining the New Orleans staff on Monday. Linehan, 61, had spent this past season as an offensive analyst at the University of Montana.

Prior to Montana, Linehan was an offensive analyst at the University of Missouri for three seasons. There, he was paired with Missouri offensive coordinator Kirby Moore, younger brother of new Saints head coach Kellen Moore

That is far from the only tie that Linehan has to Kellen Moore and much of the rest of the New Orleans offensive staff.

Linehan was also the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 2014 through 2018. Kellen Moore was a backup quarterback for the Cowboys from 2015 to 2017. Moore also got his first coaching job working with Linehan, as quarterback coach at Dallas in 2018.

Over a 37-year coaching career, Linehan has been a head coach with the St. Louis Rams. He's also been an offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, Vikings, Dolphins, and Lions in the NFL and Idaho, Washington, and Louisville at the collegiate level.

In 2020, Linehan served as the passing game coordinator at LSU. He's also been a successful wide receiver coach and quarterback coach at multiple stops in his career.

Unlike in Dallas, Linehan will work for Kellen Moore instead of the other way around. He'll join another former Cowboys assistant that worked with him in QB coach Doug Nussmeier.
