Justin Reid, a 28-year-old safety, has built a strong NFL career since being picked by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2018 draft.
Born in Prairieville, Louisiana, Reid played four seasons with the Texans before joining the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022. He helped the Chiefs win two Super Bowls, including one where he made a big third-down tackle in Super Bowl LVIII. Known for being a smart and flexible player, Reid has played in 106 games so far. Last season, he started in 16 of them.
This offseason, Reid signed a three-year, $31.5 million deal with the New Orleans Saints. Now back in his home state, Reid will bring experience and leadership to the Saints' defense as they begin a new chapter under head coach Kellen Moore.

Speaking on new head coach Kellen Moore’s leadership, Reid praised the direction and structure Moore has brought to the team. “You can tell he runs a really tight ship and that the game plan that they have set, they have a very strong plan that they have set forth and guys are buying into the program,” Reid told reporters ahead of his appearance in the Zurich Classic Celebrity Shootout.
Reid also shared how the team’s high-energy approach has impressed him from the start. “It’s almost like college-based, which is honestly my preferred method because you don’t waste any time,” he said. “Some strength staffs gingerly tiptoe in and don’t really push guys, and then you end up starting the season sluggish, but the energy and intensity level here has been very high since day one.”
As Reid begins this new chapter with the Saints, his confidence in Moore’s leadership and the team’s high-energy culture reflects a shared belief in the program’s direction—and a hunger to win back home in Louisiana.
