Savannah Bananas' Busch Stadium Tour Postponed Due to Weather

Following the threat of severe weather, the Cardinals and Bananas decided to postpone the two games that were scheduled for April 4 and 5. The Bananas will now make their first visit to Busch Stadium on Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19. 

The redbirds opened their season Thursday, March 27, when they took on the Minnesota Twins at Busch Stadium in front of a sold-out crowd of 47,395. 

Based on the latest numbers, that could likely be the largest crowd Busch Stadium sees until the Bananas come to town in July. 

The Cardinals’ attendance numbers began to make a steady decline last season, and it appears to only be getting worse. Only 20,309 tickets were sold for Wednesday’s afternoon game against the Los Angeles Angels. 

That’s the smallest crowd in Busch Stadium III history (excluding the pandemic years). The second smallest crowd in history? Monday night’s game against the Angels which saw 21,206 tickets sold. 

While fans are frustrated and have decided to stop showing up to watch the Cardinals, it appears they’re going to have no problem showing up for the Bananas. 

“Banana Ball”, as they call it, could bring a sense of excitement back to the ballpark, something that Busch Stadium has lacked over the past couple seasons. 

The Bananas’ slogan is simply, “We Make Baseball Fun”. 

Fans certainly appear to be having fun when attending these games. In addition to all the music and dancing, some of the rules in place that may make Banana Ball more appealing to fans include a two-hour time limit, no walks, the ability to steal first base and even fans being able to record outs by catching foul balls. 

As of the writing of this article, the cheapest ticket to the July 18 Bananas’ game at Busch is $153-plus on TickPick. Entry to the Braves vs Cardinals game the week before will cost you $18 each. 

Fans may have to wait a little longer, but St. Louis is ready for some Banana Ball.
