The NFL Draft is less than 7 hours away from hearing Rodger Goodell say the 2025 NFL Draft is now open and the Tennessee Titans are on the clock. Then, 13 picks later, the Indianapolis Colts will be on the clock with the 14th pick. If it was two months ago I would have said there were many different routes to go, but the front office got busy in free agency. Let’s look at the top three prospects the Colts must try to draft in round one.
This guy has the skills to come in and start week one besides Zaire Franklin. His ability to close on the football and also get pressure off the edge makes him worthy of the 14th pick in the NFL Draft. He also is very good at getting downhill to meet blocks and constrict the run lane. The biggest weakness most would point out is his size but he makes up for that with grit and determination. This pick would be a steal for the Colts.
This pick is one I’m very fond of because of his size and strength. Booker is a downhill run blocker with average explosiveness into first contact. He will use his size and power to overtake defenders in the second phase of the block. Booker has honed his blocking technique and he has a very high football IQ which helps him defend against twists. His traits, football character, and play strength make him a great fit with our offense. I am sure Running Back Jonathan Taylor would not mind this pick one bit as he could see the holes open.
I know you are probably thinking why not Tyler Warren? Well, the answer is simple. The moves made up until now have made me believe Warren will be off the board at 14. That being said Loveland would be a great fit in this offense. Loveland has the ball skills and athletic ability to become a top pass-catching tight end.
Loveland plays big and can separate from man coverage and make plays on all three levels. He can hurry his routes and they may lack detail. That will change with coaching. This pick will become a great safety blanket for whoever is under center for the Colts.
The Colts must try and do whatever it to get one of these three prospects. If they can get one of these picks they will be that much closer to making the Playoffs. The NFL Draft starts at 8 pm tonight and will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. As always stay up to date with all things NFL on Total Apex Media.
