Titans Announce Release of Offensive Starter

The Tennessee Titans have had their share of failed draft picks over the years, most notably Marcus Mariota, Treylon Burks and Will Levis. This inability to add quality players while they are young and cheap has plagued the organization and inhibited its ability to find a winning formula.

Under new general manager Mike Borgonzi, however, this will not be tolerated. Already in his first offseason with the team, Borgonzi has gotten rid of several players who either cost too much or failed to find their footing in the NFL. The moves kept coming this week as the Titans released another offensive starter.

On Thursday, the Titans announced the release of starting right tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere. Petit-Frere started in 28 games at right tackle over the last three seasons for the Titans, playing over 1,600 snaps in that time. Last season, he earned a pitiful performance grade of 46.5, according to Pro Football Focus.

After spending a third-round pick on him in 2022 after a strong college career at Ohio State, Petit-Frere never panned out for the Titans, prompting his release just ahead of the NFL Draft. This move was a no-brainer for the franchise as it will save the team roughly $3.4 million this year, according to Zach Lyons

Now, only six draft picks remain on the Titans' roster from when Jon Robinson was the team's general manager. The Mike Borgonzi era has fully arrived in Tennessee.
