The Tennessee Titans are all but certainly selecting Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While they can be hopeful he will be the answer under center, they need to get him some weapons. Calvin Ridley is very sneakily 30 years old, and their deep threat Nick Westbrook-Ikhine left for the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
With that in mind, the Titans will have the opportunity to add a top-tier receiver to their roster in the draft in the second round. Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated, the perfect scenario for Tennessee would be selecting Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III in the second round.
"Grabbing Ward at No. 1 is already an ideal scenario for Tennessee, but it can make it better by adding an explosive player such as Burden," Manzano writes. "The Missouri wideout has the skill set to be a YAC monster at the next level."
Burden has seen his draft stock plummet for reasons that seem to be unknown. Perhaps it's because his 2024 season wasn't as good as his terrific 2023 campaign. It's hard to blame the dynamic receiver for that, though, considering Missouri as a whole was worse off in 2024. They went from a team that finished the season ranked number nine in the College Football Playoff poll and won the Cotton Bowl to being ranked number 19 and winning the Music City Bowl.
Burden had 61 catches for 676 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. His 2023 campaign featured over 1,200 yards on 86 receptions and nine touchdowns. Should he live up to expectations or overcome the doubts many seem to be placing upon him, he and Ward could develop a C.J. Stroud-Tank Dell-type chemistry that helps lift Tennessee and get them back to prominence.
