Following the Bucs’ 24-14 victory over the Dolphins to conclude the preseason with a 2-1 record, Tampa Bay began making its roster cuts on Sunday. All NFL teams have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 27th to trim down their rosters from 90 players to 53 to start the 2024 regular season.
In years past when there were four preseason games there would be multiple cutdowns throughout August. Now there is just one cutdown date – when all teams must shed 37 players to get down to the mandated 53-man roster. After the 53-man roster is set on Tuesday, the Bucs and other teams can begin assembling their 16-player practice squads the following day.
After transitioning to one of the league’s youngest teams last season, the youth movement has continued for the Bucs throughout the offseason after adding in the team’s 2024 NFL Draft Class and parting with a handful of veteran players. Expect all seven draft picks to stick around, as well as a couple of undrafted rookies.
Head coach Todd Bowles knows there are a lot of tough decisions left to be made, and he spoke after the team’s final preseason game on Friday night about them.
“The bottom had some pluses,” Bowles said of some of the bubble players performing well. “We’re going to look at the tape. There [are] going to be some tough decisions made in the next couple of days. Obviously, when you have a good team, the tougher the decisions are, but there were some guys that made some plays, but I have to see the totality of the work.”
Here are the Bucs roster cuts that are publicly known. This list will be constantly updated as cuts are made through Tuesday.
