Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Brutally Rips Into NFL
David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson is taking in the NFL playoff this season from his home like many fans around the world. He, like those fans, are also active on social media and isn’t afraid to voice his opinion on topics that pop up.

Jefferson recently popped up on social media over the weekend during the Divisional Round of the playoffs. One of the Vikings’ rivals, the Detroit Lions, are in the midst of their best season potentially ever.

A victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon punched their ticket to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1991 season. Lions fans are excited, and rightfully so, as their franchise hasn’t experienced much success.

Looking to also take part in the joy, the NFL shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, highlighting comments Lions’ head coach Dan Campbell made during his introductory press conference three years ago. Campbell spoke about the toughness his team would bring to the table, but the Vikings’ star thought it was in bad taste for the league to share.

Jefferson is certainly right to express his opinion on the matter. Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson tore his ACL on a hit from Lions’ safety Kerby Joseph during their Week 16 matchup. Promoting a sign that has the Vikings’ logo with a checkmark next to kneecap in capital letters could certainly be taken in poor taste.

Especially when you consider the Lions’ Wild Card opponent, the Los Angeles Rams, also lost tight end Tyler Higbee to a torn ACL. Their logo is also on the sign next to other kneecap.

While some fans opted to call out Jefferson, noting it was from Campbell’s press conference, it certainly isn’t a good look from the league to share something like that. Highlighting two injuries that occurred to your employees on an official account is certainly a bad look.
