What's Chiefs' Biggest Offseason Need?
© Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

If the Kansas City Chiefs' dismal 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles taught us anything, it's that the offensive line needs to be seriously upgraded.

Such was the inconsistent play at left tackle by Wanya Morris, Kingsley Suamataia, and D.J. Humphries throughout the regular season; the Chiefs were forced to kick out star guard Joe Thuney to left tackle, which meant Mike Caliendo moved to guard.

And the Super Bowl saw the Chiefs' offensive line get sliced through with ease countless times as Patrick Mahomes was sacked six times and running for his life on nearly every play.

As such, the offensive line is in urgent need of an upgrade this season, and The 33rd Team's Marcus Mosher has named it as such.

"The biggest downfall for the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2024-25 season was their offensive tackles," Mosher writes. "Joe Thuney moved out to left tackle to help minimize the damage, but his best position is at guard. Finding a franchise-caliber left tackle should be among the Chiefs' top priorities this offseason. And until they get better tackle play, the offense will always be somewhat compromised."

So the Chiefs might have to look to free agency to get solid tackle play, and there are a few names out there.

Ronnie Stanley, Alaric Jackson, Cam Robinson, and Dan Moore Jr. are all options in the free agency market, and if the Chiefs deem it an urgent requirement, then general manager Brett Veach might have to go shopping.

Mahomes was under duress in the Super Bowl, and if Kansas City has any hope of getting back to the NFL's penultimate game, then upgrading the tackle position will need to be high on the Chiefs' offseason to-do list.
