Last season, the Buffalo Bills' offense was one of the best in football, with Josh Allen leading it to the AFC Championship game before claiming the NFL MVP award.
Averaging 30.9 points per game, under Joe Brady, Allen was a player transformed as he took care of the ball and led the team with authority. But more was needed, and the franchise signed free agent Josh Palmer from the Los Angeles Chargers to give some much-needed speed to the unit.
But with a receiving room consisting of Palmer, Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel, is that enough for the Bills to make a genuine run at the Super Bowl?
Even if it is, we offer another name that could come in at cost, and serve as a solid starter/backup for the Bills - Tyler Lockett.
"A longtime model of consistency and durability in Seattle, the former Seahawks speedster is no spring chicken after a decade in the NFC West," CBS Sports' Benjamin writes. "In fact, he might be best suited in a No. 3-type role, working in tandem with fresher legs. But his instincts as a downfield ball tracker are still apparent."
With Tyrell Shavers, Jalen Virgil, and KJ Hamler as the backups, adding Lockett, who excels in the slot, could lift the receiver room's floor, and let's not forget, Tyler was still rather productive for the Seattle Seahawks last year, posting 600 yards.
It would also ease the pressure on players having to play a lot of snaps, and with Lockett as part of the rotation, it would give Buffalo some good depth at the position.
Not thought to cost a fortune (Spotrac.com has a $7.7 million APY market value), adding Lockett to be part of Allen's weaponry would be a shrewd choice.
