Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand has opened up about the swirling trade rumors around him.
The potential end of an era is coming up for Bruins fans. After making the playoffs the last seven years, it's looking like the team may be sellers at the NHL trade deadline, which is something fans aren't really familiar with given how competitive the Bruins have been throughout the years.
Earlier on in the season, Bruins president Cam Neely revealed that the Bruins have two different routes they could take at the NHL trade deadline, one where they are sellers, and one where they are buyers.
This is all going depend where they are in the standings when the trade deadline comes around, but right now it's not looking good for the Bruins.
One specific player that has surfaced as a surprising trade candidate this year is captain Brad Marchand.
Brad Marchand's name has been involved in a lot of trade rumors this year, and the possibility he gets traded is becoming more and more realistic.
With that being said, Brad Marchand finally spoke out regarding the rumors.
After their 6-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets Thursday night, Brad Marchand was asked about the recent rumors regarding him being traded. He went on to say that at the end of the day, the organization is going to do what they feel is necessary.
Trading Brad Marchand would definitely send a shockwave through Boston. Not only is he currently the captain of the Bruins, but he's spent his whole career with the organization.
One plus of trading Marchand would be the fact that his return would greatly help the Bruins in their "retool" and would definitely speed up the process.
