The Boston Bruins may be on their way to missing the NHL playoffs for the first time since 2016, but it's clear they are trying to finish the regular season on a high note. On Tuesday night, the Bruins were in New Jersey to face the Devils.
Boston exploded for seven goals—two in the first, two more in the second, and a final three in the third—cruising to a dominant 7-2 win over New Jersey.
Meanwhile, Bruins star winger David Pastrnak entered the game sitting on 97 points, just three away from not only reaching the 100-point mark for the season, but also hitting that milestone for the third time in his career and in three consecutive years.
He scored Boston's first goal, then assisted on the team's second, which was scored by Michael Callahan, and got his 100th to start the third period with an assist on Morgan Geekie's goal.
Pastrnak made NHL history as the first Czech-born player to post three straight 100-point seasons—surpassing legend Jaromir Jagr, who had two in the late ’90s. The 28-year-old is now second all-time in Bruins history for most 100-point seasons and just the third player in franchise history to hit the mark in three consecutive years.
The Bruins shared their reaction to Pastrnak's achievement on social media.
"Carb overload," they wrote.

Pastrnak spoke about it after the game, saying, he's "very honored.
Obviously, very honored — it’s not easy in this league," he told NESN. "But at the same time, I feel like that’s my job. "I wish it would be under better circumstances. It’s good, but nothing changes for me. There is only one thing that I’m chasing."
Boston has just three games left in the regular season. It will face the Chicago Blackhawks next with puck-drop on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.
