Don Cherry is one of the biggest names in the world of hockey commentary, even if he doesn't have a job at a mainstream outlet anymore.
Thankfully, for Cherry, the world of podcasting is something that still exists. Every single week, Cherry gives fans a new episode where he discusses everything that is happening around the National Hockey League. It's much more raw than what he did on Coaches Corner, however, that is just how his supporters like it. After all, Cherry's claim to fame is that he is unfiltered.
Recently, Cherry got to give his opinion on the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs. While those are not for another six months, Cherry decided that now was the right time to give a prediction. After all, fans love their predictions. These have the ability to get them riled up and excited. As you can see below, Cherry is going with the idea that the Utah Hockey Club will make the playoffs.
'I think [they] will be the biggest surprise. They are in a new town and the whole... and I think they'll be the surprise of the year. Oh I don't think they'll make a run for it but... make the playoffs, that's about it.'
All things considered, this is a pretty level-headed take from Cherry. The Utah Hockey Club is 4-1-1 to start the season and they have displayed a ton of growth as a team. They appear to be energized, and there is certainly potential for them to be a Wild Card team.
