The Winnipeg Jets announced Wednesday they have agreed to terms with forward Alex Iafallo on a three-year contract extension worth $11 million, with an average annual value (AAV) of $3,666,666. The contract will begin in 2025-26.

The 31-year-old Iafallo has 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points and 15 penalty minutes in 81 games with the Jets this season. He ranks third on the team in plus-minus with a plus-21 rating.

The undrafted free agent signed with the Los Angeles Kings out of the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2017, and was acquired by the Jets, along with Rasmus Kupari, Gabriel Vilardi and the Montreal Canadiens’ second-round pick in 2024, in exchange for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

In 583 career games for the Jets and Kings, Iafallo has 111 goals and 151 assists for 262 points and 101 penalty minutes. He has also played in 21 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring five goals and five assists for 10 points.

Iafallo reached career highs with the Kings in 2019-20, scoring 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points in just 70 games.

In four years with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Iafallo scored 48 goals and 73 assists for 121 points and 52 penalty minutes in 152 career NCAA college hockey games. In 2017, the club made it to the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four, but were eliminated by the University of Denver in the championship.

Last Sunday, the Jets officially clinched the 2024-25 Presidents’ Trophy for the league’s best regular-season record. They are currently 55-22-4 with 114 points, the best record in their franchise’s history. Their final game is Wednesday when they host the Anaheim Ducks.

Forward Kyle Connor leads the team in all offensive categories with 41 goals, 55 assists and 96 points. Mark Scheifele isn’t far behind, with 38 goals and 48 assists for 86 points. Josh Morrissey leads all defenders in scoring with 14 goals and 47 assists for 61 points.

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is having another all-time season, posting a 46-12-3 with a .924 save percentage and 2.02 goals against average (GAA). He is the favorite to win the Vezina Trophy and could end up being a finalist for the Hart Trophy.
