The Washington Capitals took a devastating 6-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in Game 3 of the opening round NHL playoffs series on April 25.

Not only did the Capitals take a rough defeat at the Ball Centre in Montreal, goaltender Logan Thompson appeared to get seriously injured with 6:57 left in the third period. Thompson needed assistance off the ice.

Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery did not have an update on Thompson's status on Saturday morning, per The Washington Post's Bailey Johnson. The goalie did not participate in the team's optional morning practice.  Johnson noted, "Dylan Strome said he thinks Thompson’s near-fall as he tried to get up might have been a 'balance thing' vs. a leg injury."

While fans wait for an official update on Thompson, the NHL made an announcement regarding the Capitals-Canadiens playoff series on Saturday.

The Capitals posted on April 26, "The @NHL announced today that Game 5 of the First Round series between the Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens will start 7 PM ET on Wednesday, April 30 at Capital One Arena. The game will air on @MonSportsNet. Nationally, the game will be televised on @espn in the U.S."

Before the series returns to Washington, the Capitals will look get a win in Montreal in Game 4 on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET, a matchup that stands to be must-see TV.

Tensions boiled over between the two teams in Game 3, leading to all-out brawl between Capitals' Tom Wilson and Habs' Josh Anderson. Both players received 10-minute misconducts. “I’m not going to really get into it, to be honest with you,” Anderson told reporters after the game.

“Two guys trying to defend their teammates. Obviously it escalated. But it’s playoffs. I think guys will do anything for their teams out there. It is what it is.”

Carbery also chalked it up to the pressure of playoff hockey. "Just two competitive teams and two competitive guys,” he said.
