Penguins Hire David Quinn as New Assistant Coach

Quinn, 57, is the former head coach of the New York Rangers (2018-2021) and the San Jose Sharks (2022-2024). He will oversee the team’s defense and will hopefully provide the boost he was able to on both the Rangers and Sharks. Under Quinn, both Adam Fox (2021) and current Penguin Erik Karlsson (2023), won the Norris Trophy as the best defenseman in the NHL.

Quinn has a 137-185-50 record as NHL Head Coach. He previously served as the head coach of Boston University from 2013-2018. Quinn and Sullivan were teammates on Boston University during the 1986-87 season. They have both remained close since then.

He joins Mike Vellucci and Ty Hennes as assistant coaches.
