The Canucks organization has issued a powerful statement after a heartbreaking tragedy has struck the city of Vancouver during a festival last night.
The City of Vancouver woke up hopelessly devastated on Sunday morning when the community was left reeling under dismal news. A Saturday night tragedy has taken countless lives and plunged the city, as well as its citizens, into mourning.
Shock and trauma have gripped Vancouver as friends, relatives, and neighbors all converge to comfort one another during the difficult time. Oilers' Evander Kane also released a statement.
'I am heartbroken by the beyond devastating tragedy that took place at the Lapu Lapu Festival in the Sunset community of Vancouver last evening. Sunset community is where I grew up, the Filipino community are some of the kindest people. My most sincere condolences to the victims and their families. In the aftermath of the unfortunate accident, the Vancouver Canucks made an official statement on Sunday morning that was released on social media.
'We are heartbroken by the tragic events that occurred tonight at the Lapu Lapu Day celebration.Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted, including Vancouver's Filipino community. We extend our deepest condolences and support during this unimaginably difficult time.'

The team conveyed their sincere sympathy and condolences to the victims, the involved families, and everyone affected by the tragedy.
As a major reflection of Vancouver's identity, the Canucks put forward the value of uniting as a community after such a huge loss.
The Winnipeg Jets also joined the Canucks and Evander Kane in issuing a heartfelt statement of their own.

Meanwhile, the equally important Filipino national holiday of Lapu Lapu Day was occurring.
Lapu Lapu Day commemorates Datu Lapu-Lapu, the mythical Filipino leader, who, with great bravery, led his countrymen to war against the Spanish conquistadors of the 1521 Battle of Mactan, whose forces were led by the great explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
