Minnesota Wild goalie Marc-André Fleury recalled his time with the Vegas Golden Knights, calling it “pretty special.”

Fleury will play his final regular season game at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday, pending a rematch in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Fleury spent four seasons in Vegas, amassing 117 wins, a .917 save percentage, and a 2.41 goals-against average. The numbers are among the best in his career.

He joined the Golden Knights during the 2017 NH Expansion Draft and appreciated the welcome he and the team got from the community in that first season.

“Nobody knew really how hockey would do here in Vegas,” Fleury said. “The questions coming in were like, ‘Are we going to win any games’? Are people going to like it? But it turned out for the best. It’s an organization that a lot of players want to come play for. They had a lot of success winning the Cup not long ago. That was the goal. I’m happy that we were able to succeed in that.”

Fleury has plenty of memories in the T-Mobile Arena, but two particular memories stand out to him when recalling his time with Vegas.

“That first game was special,” Fleury said. “It was sad, but it was also beautiful to see everybody on the team, in the building, around town stuck together. Those were tough times. Those were obviously crazy times. But on the bright side, that first playoff run, going to the finals against Washington, the run, and the journey to get there was a lot of fun.”
