Wild's Jared Spurgeon has successful surgery on left hip
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon underwent successful surgery on his left hip on Tuesday.

Spurgeon’s injury-riddled season officially came to an end on Jan. 18 due to hip and back injuries. The Wild said in a statement then that Spurgeon, 34, would have back surgery about four weeks after his hip surgery, about a month from now.

Spurgeon only played 16 games this season, tallying five points. He missed the first month of the season due to a shoulder injury sustained during a preseason game against the Chicago Blackhawks and battled injuries throughout his season.

Spurgeon is expected to be back and ready for the 2024-25 season.
