Dre Greenlaw was looking forward to a bounce-back season after he signed with the Denver Broncos, but the veteran linebacker is now dealing with another injury.
Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports reported on Sunday that Greenlaw recently suffered a quadriceps injury during a workout. While Chan reported that Greenlaw tore his quadriceps and is in danger of missing a significant portion of the 2025 season, there has been conflicting information about the extent of the injury.
According to Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post, Greenlaw’s quadriceps injury is just a strain. The veteran could miss time but is expected to be recovered for the start of the regular season.
#Broncos ILB Dre Greenlaw did suffer a quadriceps injury working out, but a source familiar with the situation says it's a strain and should cost him a matter of weeks rather than months.

Regular season not expected to be in jeopardy for the Denver free agent addition.
Greenlaw appeared in just two games with the San Francisco 49ers last season after he suffered a torn Achilles during the Super Bowl the year before. He returned in Week 14 last year and got through that game but experienced soreness in his Achilles the following game. The 49ers decided to shut Greenlaw down for the season at that point.
Despite the Achilles issues, Greenlaw signed a three-year, $31.5M deal with the Broncos in free agency. There was a report that the 49ers offered Greenlaw more money but he wanted a fresh start.
The 27-year-old Greenlaw spent the first six seasons of his career in San Francisco. He had 120-plus total tackles in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023.
