Chicago Cubs prospect Kevin Alcantara has been showing his skills throughout spring training. That continued on Saturday night in perhaps his biggest showcase as a prospect so far.
Alcantara, rated as the sixth-best prospect in the Cubs organization by MLB.com, ripped an 0-1 pitch from Los Angeles Angels prospect Caden Dana over the left-center wall to highlight a four-run first inning for the Cubs against the top-ranked pitching prospect in the Angels organization.

Alcantara's blast came after the Cubs had tied the game on an RBI single from Moises Ballesteros, ranked as the fourth-best prospect for Chicago.
The 22-year-old Alcantara, acquired by Chicago in the 2021 trade that sent Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees, saw action in 10 games for the Cubs last season, making his MLB debut on September 25 and going 1-for-10. That brief appearance and what the 6-foot-6 Alcantara has done already this spring has Cubs fans wondering when the outfielder might appear at Wrigley Field next.
So far this spring, Alcantara is 7-for-25 with three doubles and four RBI.
The home run on Saturday night for Alcantara was a bit of a consolation for the prized prospect, who reportedly just missed out on being a part of Chicago's travel roster to Tokyo to open the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
