Insider: Two teams are still trying to trade up for No. 1 pick in 2025 NFL Draft

Two teams are still trying to convince the Tennessee Titans to give up the No. 1 pick before the 2025 NFL Draft starts on April 24.

On a Wednesday episode of "NFL Live," ESPN's Adam Schefter said he expects the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants to keep calling the Titans. The Browns have pick No. 2, while the Giants hold pick No. 3.

"Yes, the Titans absolutely do like [Miami quarterback] Cam Ward. Yes, they're ready to take him," Schefter said. "But these teams have one month to change Tennessee's mind and make an offer compelling enough to move Tennessee, which has a ton of holes on its roster, off the No. 1 pick."

At Miami pro day on Monday, new Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi indicated they haven't ruled out trading the top pick.

"I would say everything is still on the table," Borgonzi said, via Jim Wyatt of the team website. "From the beginning, I said I wanted to go through the whole process, and I felt like our priority was to build the offensive line first, and we added (tackle) Dan Moore and (guard) Kevin Zeitler.

"Now we're going through the process here with the college quarterbacks. But I'd say everything is still on the table right now."

Taking Ward, who threw 39 touchdown passes in 13 starts in 2024, could still be wise for the Titans. Tennessee QB Will Levis went 2-10 in 12 starts in 2024, tossing 13 TD passes and 12 interceptions.

And should the Titans trade down in a class that isn't considered deep at the most important position?

On his updated QB board, ESPN's Jordan Reid gives only Ward (6-foot-2, 219 pounds) and Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders (6-foot-2, 212 pounds) first-round grades.

Ward could be considered a better prospect than Sanders after he won the 2024 Davey O'Brien Award as college football's best QB.

The Giants and Browns may continue to try to acquire the No. 1 pick, but don't be surprised if those attempts fail. Tennessee clearly needs a QB, and Ward may be the best option in the draft.
