Diamondbacks 3B Eugenio Suarez stays red-hot, hits two more home runs

Arizona Diamondbacks third basemen Eugenio Suarez is opening the 2025 MLB season as hot as anyone in baseball. The MLB veteran blasted two more home runs in his first two at-bats on Friday night.

Even though his hot bat didn't help the Diamondbacks beat the Cubs on Opening Day — they lost 10-6 — Suarez went 1-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored. He left game No. 1 hitting .333 and slugging .500.

The ball remained easy to hit for Suarez s Arizona looked to tie the series. In the bottom of the second inning, Suarez belted another bomb to left field, which got the D-backs on the board and ahead 2-1.

The Diamondbacks' social media team had some fun with the early season success of the Venezuela native, bragging that he's on pace to hit 162 home runs on the season.

Suarez would then continue to flex his muscles when up to bat again in the fourth, providing some déjà vu and connecting on his second big fly of the game and third of the young season. The second one went more to left center field and sent a runner home from second base.

After crushing his second home run, Suarez had four RBI in the game and five on the year.

While Suarez will most certainly cool off at some point, it will be interesting to see if he can keep up his pace enough to approach or maybe surpass his monster 2019 season, when he smashed a career-high 49 home runs with the Reds. It's his only 40-plus-homer season of his 12-year career.

Last season, Suarez's first with the Diamondbacks after spending the previous two seasons in Seattle, he totaled 30 home runs, 101 RBI and 90 runs scored with a .256 average and a .496 slugging percentage.

Suarez now has 279 career home runs, making it possible he achieves the 300 milestone at some point this season.
