Mike Trout among trio of Angels to smack two HRs as L.A. keeps winning

At the start of the season, the Angels were winning without Mike Trout producing up to his normal standard. But on Thursday, Los Angeles clinched another series win as Trout's bat came alive.

Trout, who enjoyed a break from the field as he served as the designated hitter, smacked two home runs in the Angels' 11-1 win over the Rays.

First, Trout sent his fourth home run of the season over the fence in right field for the Angels' third homer of the top of the fifth inning. With a runner already on base, Trout's two-run shot gave the Angels a 7-1 lead at the time.

But he wasn't done, and neither were a couple of his teammates.

Trout went yard again in the top of the ninth, simply pouring salt in Tampa Bay's wounds at that point. This one went to right center field, as Trout became the third different Angel to hit two home runs in the game.

Taylor Ward and Jo Adell also crushed multiple balls out of the ballpark.

Trout finished the game going 2-for-5 with his only hits being those two home runs. He recorded three total RBI.

The three-time American League MVP and 11-time All-Star now has five home runs and 11 RBI in 12 games so far on the year.

After playing in 29 games throughout the entire 2024 season, Trout agreed to move from center to right field in 2025 with the goal of preserving his health, maximize his availability and minimizing the wear and tear on his body. Trout has only surpassed 100 games played once since playing in 134 in 2019 — he appeared in 119 in 2022.

Los Angeles is now 8-4 on the year, having won every series while hitting the third most home runs as a team.

Trout and the Angels will now head to Houston to face another team off to a surprising start to the season, granted for a different reason. Los Angeles' three-game weekend series with the Astros gets underway on Friday night.
