GM's comments cast doubt on TE Mark Andrews' future with Ravens

Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta seemed noncommittal when asked about tight end Mark Andrews' future with the team on Tuesday.

"I never know what's going to happen," DeCosta said when asked if they would trade Andrews during the 2025 NFL Draft. "And I would never want to say this or that. But I can tell you this: Mark Andrews is a warrior. He's played his butt off for us."

Andrews has become an impact player for Baltimore since it took him with pick No. 86 in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, making three Pro Bowls and earning one first-team All-Pro nod.

However, he's entering the final year of a four-year, $56M contract in 2025 and coming off a turbulent season. In 17 regular-season games, he tallied 11 touchdown catches but averaged 39.6 receiving yards per game, his lowest figure since his rookie season.

In Baltimore's 27-25 AFC divisional round loss to the Buffalo Bills, he had a costly gaffe. With 1:33 left in the fourth quarter, he dropped a wide-open two-point conversion that would've tied the game.

Andrews, 29, may face increased competition from backup TE Isaiah Likely in 2025. In 16 games in 2024, Likely, 24, recorded career highs in receptions (42), receiving yards (477) and touchdown catches (six).

At the annual league meeting on March 31, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he expects Andrews to play for Baltimore next season.

DeCosta doesn't want to upset the Super Bowl-champion coach, so perhaps, that will convince him to keep the TE.

"His competitiveness, his talent, his attitude, his leadership is so valued here," DeCosta said. "He's a great player. And I think we're in the business of keeping as many great players as we can. So, there's always a lot of unpredictability with the draft. You just never know."

If the Ravens don't trade Andrews during the draft, he could still enter a make-or-break year in 2025.
