The American Performance Horseman, which made its successful industry-defining debut in 2023, will be hosted in Arlington, Texas for the next three years. The event will take place on Friday, March 8, 2024 and is one of the American Western Weekend's highlight events, along with The American Rodeo on March 9.
Produced by Teton Ridge, the event's competitive exhibition format pays homage to the past, present, and future of Western performance horse sports. The event features five teams of three athletes, each paired with some of the industry's most respected Quarter Horses. Each team comprises a reiner, a reined cow horse professional, and a cutting professional.
With $1,000,000 in prize money up for grabs, the competition in 2024 is bound to be fierce. This event is the first to highlight the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), and National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) in the same night at the same venue.
Teton Ridge has revealed the teams for the upcoming event:
Royal Blue: Adan Banuelos, Casey Deary, Clayton Edsall
Regal Red: Austin Shepard, Cade McCutcheon, Sarah Dawson
Racing Green: Wesley Galyean, Andrea Fappani, Matt Koch
Burnt Orange: Morgan Cromer, Brian Bell, Corey Cushing
Imperial Purple: James Payne, Jason Vanlandingham, Justin Wright
