Considered by some metrics to be the largest ski resort in South America, Valle Nevado (Snowy Valley), Chile has started their Winter '24 season off with a bang.

The resort is reporting that an astounding 64 inches (163cm) of snow has fallen in the last seven days. This brings their seasonal total to 135 inches (344cm) -- more than half of their annual average of 240 inches (609cm). Photos below.

The icing on the metaphorical cake, so to say, is that this storm wasn't the first of the season for Valle Nevado.

Thanks to feet of Fall snowfall in mid-to-late May, the resort opened three weeks earlier than planned on June 7th, 2024. Valle Nevado will remain open for daily skiing and snowboarding operations through October 6th, 2024.

Many American skiers fantasize about traveling to South American in July and August for wintry turns on snow. The rest of the season isn't guaranteed to be as snowy, but all signs are pointing towards deep season for Valle Nevado and the other resorts in the region.

Check out the video below of a Valle Nevado employee capturing fresh snowfall laying on the slopes on June 14th, 2024.
