The Beast is leading Vermont's early-season skiing charge.
Today November 13, 2024, the resort announced that it would open tomorrow, November 14th, exclusively for Killington, Beast365, and Ikon Pass Holders. Two lifts—the K-1 Express Gondola and North Ridge Quad—will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with access to Rime and Reason. Plus, there's a chance Upper East Fall will open.
On opening day, pass holders can grab free lunch at the K-1 Lodge, Peak Lodge, or the Subie Shack, which marks the continuation of a longstanding tradition at Killington.
The freestyle crowd can take advantage of a few park features on Reason. Available park features will expand as the season progresses.
Thanks to the addition of new low energy snow guns that facilitated expanded snowmaking coverage, Killington will provide skiing and riding access down to North Ridge. However, walking on the Peak Walkway will be required to exit skiable terrain.
“We owe our snowmaking team a round of applause for getting us up and running for the 24/25 season,” said Mike Solimano, President and CEO of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain.
As is standard at many ski resorts which offer early-season skiing, all of Killington’s available terrain will be advanced for the time being—no beginner terrain is available.
The resort opens to the general public on Friday, November 15th, and plans to operate seven days a week going forward from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather and conditions permitting. Once Killington begins offering top-to-bottom skiing, it’ll resume opening on weekends at 8 a.m.
Once again, Killington will become the first Vermont resort open for the 2024-2025 ski season. Last season, Killington first welcomed skiers on November 3rd and remained open until June 1st—firing up the lifts early and keeping them open late is a hallmark of the resort.
This season marks Killington’s first as an independent resort. In August, POWDR—Killington’s previous owner—announced that the resort would be sold to a group of local passholders led by Phill Gross and Michael Ferri. Both Gross and Ferri are longstanding members of the Killington community.
Sunday River, Maine, announced that it, too, would welcome the first skiers and snowboarders of the season on November 14th, only minutes after Killington shared the news of its upcoming opening.
