The body of a snowboarder who went missing from Vail Mountain on Valentine’s Day has been recovered.
Connor Gill was just 26 years old. He went missing on a snowboarding trip on February 14, 2025. The Eagle County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the body found was Gill, but didn’t release further information.
His body was recovered on Friday, February 28, 2025.
"On behalf of Vail Mountain and Vail Ski Patrol, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our guest," Vail Mountain COO Beth Howard said in a statement on Monday. "We appreciate all of the rescue agencies who conducted this search alongside Vail Ski Patrol."
Gill was reported missing around 3:15 p.m. by his skiing partner. He was last seen at Vail’s Avanti Express lift around 8:50 a.m. The Vail Communication Center was alerted of a missing snowboarder at 4:30 p.m. Both the Vail Mountain Rescue Team and Vail Ski Patrol responded to the scene. Vail Police assisted as well.
According to the Vail Daily, assistance was also provided by Vail Mountain Leadership, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Vail Public Safety Communications Center, Beaver Creek Ski Patrol, Breckenridge Ski Patrol, Keystone Ski Patrol, Aspen Mountain Ski Patrol, Summit County Rescue Group, Mountain Rescue Aspen, Lake County Search and Rescue, Garfield County Search and Rescue, Colorado Search and Rescue Association, and the United States Forest Service.
Gill went missing shortly before a massive snow storm dropped more than two feet of snow throughout parts of Vail.
Gill was from the Denver metropolitan area, and was considered an intermediate snowboarder.
