MLS Next Pro finally released its 2025 schedule, and Chicago Fire II will open its campaign at home on March 9 when they take on Huntsville City FC as the club looks to build on its run to the conference semifinals in 2024.
Fire II has a new head coach in 2025, Mike Matkovich, though their new boss has previously coached two iterations of a Chicago Fire reserves team. He’s charged with revamping a Fire II unit into a group that aligns with how the new head coach and director of football, Gregg Berhalter, wants the Chicago Fire to play soccer.
Fire II are in the Eastern Conference’s Northeast Division alongside FC Cincinnati 2, Columbus Crew 2, New England Revolution II, NYCFC II, RBNY II, Philadelphia Union 2 and Toronto FC II.
The location of Fire II's home matches will be determined at a later date, according to the club's schedule announcement.
Chicago Fire II opens the 2025 MLS Next Pro season on March 9 when they host Huntsville SC at SeatGeek Stadium at 3 pm & will travel to Columbus Crew 2 on Decision Day on October 5 #cf97 #VamosFire https://t.co/iCPyVKXM7B
