Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has dismissed any suggestion of an issue with Adam Idah after the Irishman was pictured following a night out. During the week, the Celtic striker was filmed while on a night out appearing to be worse for wear outside a taxi.

Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash with St Johnstone, Brendan insisted that it was a non-story, despite the best attempts of some.

“I haven’t seen anything, but Adam rang me yesterday to take me through everything that happened.

“I spoke to him again this morning. There’s a sadness to it. He knows, and the group knows, where I am at in terms of focus and mentality.

“But this was on a day off. The sad thing for me is that a 24-year-old football player in his spare time can’t sort of let his hair down without someone trying to film him.“

Idah has struggled for consistency since making the permanent move to Celtic last summer. However, his application and goals have helped Celtic towards their success this season. The one thing that the player will want to add to his game is consistency.

It was excellent management from Rodgers as he totally shut down the narrative that the press attempted to spin against Idah. The big striker can repay the manger’s confidence in him with a goal to help secure Celtic’s place in the Scottish Cup Final next month.
